||
|
Dear resident,
The session covered The dangers associated with swimming in open water, including cold water shock, hidden hazards, strong currents and deep water. How to stay safe around rivers, lakes, reservoirs and canals. What to do in an emergency, including calling 999 and asking for the appropriate emergency service. The importance of not entering the water to attempt a rescue and instead using the Call, Tell, Throw principle where possible. Key water safety messages to help pupils make safe decisions during the school holidays and warmer weather. Pupils were engaged throughout the presentation and participated in discussions around recognising hazards and responding safely to emergency situations. The session aimed to raise awareness of water safety and reduce the risk of water related incidents within the local community. There was positive engagement from staff and pupils, with important safety messages delivered ahead of the summer period.
